Full day tour that includes unique sites of Greece * Meteora monasteries, * King Leonidas and 300 Spartans battlefield, * The cave of Theopetra limestone has been dated in the Upper Cretacious period (137.000.000 - 65.000.000 years before present). The creation of the cave is consequently later than the above mentioned date. The cave has started being inhabited since the Middle Paleolithic period (which started at about 100.000 years before present). Stone tools of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods have been found, as well as Neolithic pottery, bone and shell objects.

In addition, evidence for human habitation in the Theopetra Cave can be traced without interruption from the Middle Paleolithic to the end of the Neolithic period.

  • To enter monasteries of Meteora, all men are required to wear long pants, while sleeveless t-shirts or sleeveless shirts are strictly forbidden! For ladies’ long skirts are needed while shoulders must be covered at all times. All Meteora monasteries at the entrances do provide skirts and scarves for ladies to cover themselves. They don’t provide clothing for men though. Be aware that men who show up at the entrance of monasteries with very short pants or sleeveless shirts will be denied access!

  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Amazing experience! We got to see many sights even though the cave was closed the day we went. Anastasios was great!!

Anastasios was a great guide and it was a very memorable day-trip out to the monasteries. Although the drive is quite long, Anastasios was very hospitable and offered cold water, food and juice to us throughout the day. I highly recommend this tour for the monasteries and to see the Greek countryside, you will definitely not regret it.

meteora is absolutely magical, a must see if you’re in greece. we’re not old enough to rent out a car, so i’m really glad to have found this tour on airbnb. pan was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and we enjoyed the day a ton :) although the cave was currently undergoing excavation and blocked off to the public, we were still able to visit the nearby museum which was super interesting. definitely recommend this experience!
